People's School Project in 11 Additional Points to be Auctioned This Month

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo revealed plans to auction the construction project of the People's School (SR) in 11 additional points. The target is that the contract for the work can be achieved by July 2026.

Dody said that the additional 11 SR points were to complete the construction at 93 points which will be completed on June 20. He said that the auction process will be carried out starting this month.

"Next, for the addition, there are 11 that we will auction. Hopefully in June this can be completed and in July we will sign the contract," said Dody in the Infrastructure Update Semester I-2026 at the Ministry of PU's office, Jakarta, Friday, June 5.

With the contract signed in July 2026, the target of construction is expected to be completed in December 2026. "This is for what we target by December, so that the shortage of yesterday in 93 (points) can be contained in 11," he said.

If combined, the total number reaches 104 SR points. However, some of the construction is hampered by land problems and other aspects. So, the 11 points can only be included in the auction offer this month.

"The target should be a total of 100, yes. Only yesterday there were several locations whose land was not ready and so on, and this happened to be ready and we are now immediately auctioning," he explained.

He also targeted that as many as 93 SRs could be completed by June 20, 2026. "I try to make 93 locations really complete on June 20," he said.

It is known that currently the average progress of the construction of 93 SR has reached around 70 percent. However, Dody admitted that there were still a number of obstacles to be faced.

Among them, construction service providers who experience cash flow constraints and many construction workers who choose to return home due to the long Eid al-Adha holiday.

"There are indeed some obstacles, but with BUMN Karya I have coordinated almost every day with COO Danantara Pak Dony (Oskaria). If they have financial difficulties or anything, for example, it can be helped, so that the progress is not hampered," he said.

"Yesterday it slowed down a bit, maybe because it was Eid al-Adha, yes. So what? Many workers are going home," he continued.

However, continued Dody, now each contractor is speeding up the construction process to be able to pursue the target before the start of the new school year. "So all service providers seem to be optimistic, are running fast to chase June 20 to be completed," he concluded.
