Supratman Andi Agtas Will Coordinate with KPK and Polri After Tannos Ditolak's Complaint Was Rejected

JAKARTA - Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas stated that he would continue to coordinate with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the National Police of the Republic of Indonesia (Polri) after the fugitive Paulus Tannos alias Thian Po Tjhin's lawsuit regarding extradition was rejected.

The Singapore High Court in its ruling, Friday (29/5), officially rejected Tannos' judicial review lawsuit to thwart his extradition process to Indonesia.

"We at the Directorate of the Central Authority and International Law with all law enforcement officers, in this case the KPK, continue to coordinate regarding this matter," said Supratman when met in Jakarta, Friday.

After the ruling, said the Minister of Law and Human Rights, the possibility of a further hearing will depend on developments there.

Previously, the KPK said the trial related to Tannos' extradition in Singapore was scheduled to continue in August 2026.

"The next stage, namely the committal hearing, is scheduled for August 2026," said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta, Friday.

According to Budi, the trial will hear the final opinions of each party, including the Government of the Republic of Indonesia represented by the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) of Singapore and legal advisor Paulus Tannos.

"The extradition decision can be immediately imposed afterwards, namely in the same tranche or afterwards depending on the dynamics of the trial," he said.

However, Budimengatakan the subject of extradition can file a legal action against the trial verdict.

He said the KPK welcomed the positive decision of the Singapore High Court which rejected Paulus Tannos' request regarding the extradition process.

"This decision is an important development in cross-jurisdictional law enforcement efforts, and further paves the way for the acceleration of the ongoing extradition process," he said.

He also said that the KPK was committed to completing the case involving Paulus Tannos if the extradition was realized.

On August 13, 2019, the KPK named Paulus Tannos as a suspect in the development of the investigation into the electronic KTP case, which is suspected of causing losses to the state treasury of up to IDR 2.3 trillion.

However, Paulus Tannos fled abroad and changed his identity. He was then put on the search list (DPO) or became a fugitive of the anti-corruption commission since October 19, 2021.

Currently, Paulus Tannos has been arrested by Singaporean authorities. Meanwhile, the Indonesian government has submitted an extradition process to the Singaporean government.
