Heavy Subsidy Burden, Pramono Will Raise Transjabodetabek Tariff
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) plans to adjust the tariff of a number of Transjabodetabek services in the near future. The tariff increase does not only apply to the Blok M-Soekarno Hatta Airport route, but also several other corridors that are considered to have too large a subsidy burden.
DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the decision regarding the Blok M-Soekarno Hatta Airport Transjabodetabek route tariff will be determined soon.
"For the Transjabodetabek Blok M-Bandara tariff, we will immediately decide," said Pramono in Matraman, East Jakarta, Friday, June 5.
However, the adjustment of tariffs does not stop at this route. The DKI Provincial Government is currently also studying a number of other Transjabodetabek services that are considered to require tariff adjustments so that the government's subsidy burden does not swell.
"In these months we will decide on several routes, not only Blok M to Soekarno-Hatta, but also other Trans Jabodetabek that need adjustments because the subsidy is too large," he said.
However, Pramono has not revealed which routes will experience tariff adjustments or the amount of increase that is being studied. The DKI Provincial Government has also not announced when the decision will be implemented.
Based on data from the DKI Jakarta Transportation Office, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government must allocate a budget of Rp. 401 billion for the Transjabodetabek subsidy on 18 service routes. Where, each passenger receives a subsidy of Rp. 12,258.
Furthermore, the number of Transjabodetabek service customers increased in April 2026. The D21 route from Universitas Indonesia to Lebak Bulus is still the corridor with the highest number of passengers compared to other routes.
Based on data from PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta), the D21 route recorded 315,768 customers in April 2026. This figure jumped compared to March 2026 which was at 245,867 customers.
Passenger growth also occurred on a number of routes connecting the Jakarta buffer area to the center of the capital's activities. The P11 Bogor-Block M route, for example, increased from 211,634 customers in March to 249,580 customers in April 2026.
Meanwhile, the T11 corridor of Poris Plawad-Petamburan recorded 244,143 customers and ranked third as the route with the most users during April 2026.
The dominance of routes from the buffer area shows that the mobility of Bodetabek residents to Jakarta is still quite high, especially for work trips and daily activities. A number of corridors that are integrated with the Jakarta MRT and large transit stops are also seen experiencing a surge in customers.
The S21 Ciputat-CSW route served 231,978 customers in April 2026, up from the previous month by 183,494 customers. Meanwhile, the S22 Ciputat-Kampung Rambutan route jumped from 122,596 to 179,894 customers.
A significant increase was also seen on the D11 Depok-Cawang Central route via Cibubur. In April 2026, the number of customers reached 134,672 people or increased compared to March which recorded 109,953 customers.
In the Bekasi area, the B21 Bekasi Timur-Cawang route recorded 117,071 customers in April 2026. Meanwhile, the B41 corridor of Vida Bekasi-Cawang Central via Jatiasih reached 109,765 customers.
Meanwhile, the T31 PIK 2-Block M route transported 126,869 customers during April 2026. This number is up from March's 120,407 customers.
The trend of increasing Transjabodetabek passengers is in line with the increasing use of public transportation in Jabodetabek throughout the beginning of 2026. The integration of intermodal, time certainty, and the increasingly extensive service network are beginning to encourage people to switch from private vehicles to public transportation.
Although most routes have experienced an increase in customers, the B25 Bekasi-Dukuh Atas corridor is still the route with the lowest number of customers in April 2026, namely 44,511 people. Meanwhile, the SH2 Blok M-Soekarno-Hatta Airport route recorded 45,113 customers.
