Ellie Goulding Opens a New Era with Album I Know Too Much and Single "Black Prada Dress"

JAKARTA - English singer and songwriter Ellie Goulding has officially announced the arrival of her sixth studio album titled "I Know Too Much".

The album containing 10 tracks is scheduled to be released on September 4, following the success of the album "Higher Than Heaven" which had topped the UK charts in 2023.

As the opener of her new era, Goulding launched a single titled "Black Prada Dress" which had previously been premiered when she performed at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Sunderland last month.

Through the album "I Know Too Much", Goulding promises a much more personal and honest work. This creative process is recognized as a container for him to pour emotions like a diary.

"Making this album allowed me to bring everything together honestly, like writing a diary through music, a collection of songs that represent a certain time in my life," Goulding said, quoted by NME, Friday, June 5.

He added, the exploration of new music and tempo colors became the main focus of this project. The idea of freedom born from ignorance became the basic foundation of the naming of his latest album.

"I've always loved exploring different sounds and tempos. This album was born out of the thought that maybe we can know too much, freedom comes from the ease of not knowing," said the 39-year-old singer.

The emotional move is also inseparable from his personal life after divorcing Caspar Jopling in early 2024. Goulding said that music was the best escape to heal himself, which he had already shown through the release of the single "Destiny" in early 2025.

"It was a marriage, not just a relationship. I don't know what else to do other than make music," the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) award winner said when reflecting on his past.

Goulding feels that the new material he has prepared this time is the most free point throughout his musical career. He no longer feels burdened to satisfy the expectations of the industry or other parties in writing lyrics.

"This is probably my most honest moment in writing lyrics. I don't have to be accountable to anyone. In certain situations, you try to please someone, but for the first time, I didn't feel like I had to do that. I just made music that I liked," he concluded.
