Busy Hours Interrupted, Fire in Tanah Abang Makes KRL Stuck
JAKARTA - The journey of the KRL that passes through the Cikarang-Duri line was disrupted due to a fire that occurred around the Tanah Abang area, Central Jakarta, Friday, June 5.
"I came from 06.07 WIB, there was already a Kampung Bandan train via Manggarai, but it was still stuck, it hadn't started yet," said one of the passengers named Lenyovia Witandari (25) at Tambun Station, quoted by Antara Friday morning.
As a result of the disruption, a number of trips experienced delays and passenger congestion at several stations.
"The information announced, I heard that the KRL is still stuck at Bekasi Station and Cakung, the driver also explained," said Leny.
Leny also admitted that he had to wait longer than usual due to the disruption. While he usually leaves in the morning to arrive at his office in West Jakarta.
"It's 08.30 WIB, it's just that it must be jammed there, so it's a morning road. God willing, it won't be late, it's safe. It's called an incident, we don't know anything," said Leny.
Another passenger, Nur (32), admitted that he had to get permission first from the office because he felt he would arrive late due to the KRL being held up.
"I can only walk, the KRL is still stuck and wants to enter Bekasi, while the office in South Jakarta, enters at 07.00 WIB. So, I'll let you know that there is a KRL disruption, it will definitely come late," said Nur.
Meanwhile, KAI Commuter Line said that the Tanah Abang-Duri KRL route was delayed due to a fire in a residential area near the railway line.
"We apologize for the inconvenience. There is a delay in the Commuter Line journey between Tanah Abang-Duri Stations due to a fire in the residential area around the rail line," said the KAI Commuter Line statement via the X account.
The current extinguishing process is known to still be ongoing. KRL operations at the location are also still waiting for the line to be declared safe to cross.
"Currently, the extinguishing process is still ongoing and is being handled by related officers. In order to maintain safety together, the Commuter Line operation at the location is temporarily waiting until the condition of the line is declared safe and can be passed again," he said.
KRL users are urged to follow the instructions of the officers.
"We appeal to users to follow the directions and information from officers in the field. Information updates are updated in line with developments on site," he added.
