Strong Signal from the Palace: Said Iqbal is Getting Closer to the Prabowo Cabinet
JAKARTA - The opportunity for the President of the Indonesian Workers' Confederation (KSPI) and President of the Labor Party, Said Iqbal, to join the Red and White Cabinet is getting more open. The palace even gave a signal that discussions regarding the position for the labor figure were underway.
The Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi revealed that the government is currently still discussing the possibility of assigning Said Iqbal in the President's cabinet Prabowo Subianto. "We are discussing," said Prasetyo Hadi to reporters at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, Thursday, June 4.
Although he has not revealed the position to be given, Prasetyo gave an indication that the position was likely related to the field that has been the focus of Said Iqbal's struggle, namely employment and labor protection.
"Yes, it is likely related to his struggle so far. Workers, labor," he said.
The statement sparked speculation that the government wanted to strengthen the representation of workers in the formulation and implementation of national policies, especially the employment sector.
However, Prasetyo emphasized that the discussion was still ongoing so there was no final decision regarding the position to be held by Said Iqbal. "Wait, it's still being discussed," he said.
On the same occasion, Prasetyo also revealed the agenda for the inauguration of the new leadership of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) which is scheduled to take place at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday, June 8.
In addition to the inauguration of the BGN leadership, President Prabowo Subianto is also scheduled to receive letters of confidence from a number of ambassadors of friendly countries on the same day. "For effectiveness we plan on the same day yes," said Prasetyo.
When asked whether Said Iqbal would be inaugurated at the same time as the agenda, Prasetyo has not given a definite answer and asked the public to wait for an official announcement from the government. "Wait for information," he concluded.
Said Iqbal's entry into the Red and White Cabinet is considered a strategic step for the government to strengthen communication with workers and at the same time answer various employment challenges currently faced by Indonesia.
