Amid the Reshuffle Issue, the Palace Emphasizes Prabowo's Focus on Strengthening Economic Coordination

JAKARTA - The Presidential Palace denied the news that President Prabowo Subianto would soon carry out a cabinet reshuffle. The government emphasized that the current focus was not on changing ministers, but strengthening coordination to maintain economic stability.

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said that until now there was no agenda for a reshuffle as widely discussed in recent days.

"There has been no reshuffle," said Prasetyo at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Thursday (4/6).

He also denied the issue that said the Head of the Investment Management Agency, Rosan Roeslani, and the Chairman of the Commission Board of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Friderica Widyasari Dewi, would undergo a change. Prasetyo even specifically denied the news that said the Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan would replace a certain position in the economic sector.

According to Prasetyo, what is currently needed more by the government is strong coordination in the midst of global economic dynamics.

"What we need now is close and intense coordination between the Ministry of Finance, Bank Indonesia, and ministries under the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs," he said.

The statement came as the rupiah exchange rate and the stock market were the public's concern. However, the government assessed that the fundamental conditions of the national economy were still maintained.

Prasetyo said the government, together with the Ministry of Finance, Bank Indonesia, and OJK, continued to monitor economic developments and prepare the necessary steps if needed.

This attitude of the Palace indicates that the current government prefers to maintain consolidation and inter-institutional coordination of the economy than to make changes to the cabinet line-up.
