6 Kg of Marijuana Found in Padangsidimpuan Prison, Four Napi Suspects
PADANGSIDEMPUAN - A total of six kilograms of dry marijuana were found in the maximum security housing block of the Padangsidimpuan Class 2B Penitentiary (Lapas), North Sumatra, when joint officers carried out a raid. In this case, four inmates in drug cases were named as suspects.
The four inmates have the initials FD, ZH, AH, and AR. In addition to confiscating six kilograms of marijuana, officers also found a number of other evidence in the form of methamphetamine smoking devices (bong), mobile phones, and items suspected of being related to drug trafficking activities in the prison.
The Head of the Padangsidimpuan Police, AKBP Wira Prayatna, said the disclosure of this case began with a joint raid carried out by personnel from the Padangsidimpuan Police, TNI, and officers from the Padangsidimpuan Class IIB Prison at the end of May.
When conducting an inspection in a number of residential blocks, officers first found drug paraphernalia, mobile phones, and other prohibited items. Razia then continued to the maximum security residential block.
At the location, officers found six dried marijuana hidden in the electrical installation area in white burlap bags and plastic bags.
Based on the results of the initial investigation, the four inmates have different roles. The police suspect that the marijuana will be distributed among the inmates.
"FD is suspected of being the owner of this narcotic, ZH is in charge of storing it at the location of the discovery, then AH is in charge of persuading ZH to store marijuana in the electrical installation, and AR is in charge of moving the evidence to the electrical installation area," said Wira in his statement, Thursday, June 4.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Padangsidimpuan Class IIB Prison, Mathrios Zulhidayat, said his party was still waiting for the results of the police investigation regarding the entry route of marijuana into the prison.
He emphasized that he would give strict sanctions if it was found that prison officers were involved in the case.
