Palace Denies Issue of Minister of Finance Resignation
JAKARTA - The Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi confirmed that there was no plan to replace the Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Purbaya amid the circulating issue regarding the possibility of his resignation.
Prasetyo said the government is currently focusing on strengthening coordination between economic authorities to maintain stability and support national growth.
"I think this afternoon he had also conveyed it. There is no, no plan for a change," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 4.
According to Prasetyo, the economic challenges currently facing require strong synergy between various related institutions. Therefore, the government prioritizes strengthening coordination over discussing the issue of replacing officials.
He explained that intensive coordination continued to be carried out between the Ministry of Finance, Bank Indonesia (BI), and the Financial Services Authority, and of course under the coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs.
"What we need now is a strong, intense coordination between the Ministry of Finance, Bank Indonesia, the Financial Services Authority, and of course under the coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs," said Prasetyo.
Prasetyo emphasized that until now the government has no agenda or plan to replace the Minister of Finance.
"So, there is no plan for this," he concluded.
Previously, it was reported that the Minister of Finance, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, denied the issue regarding his resignation from the position of Minister of Finance.
"It's not true," said Purbaya when confirmed by ANTARA in Jakarta, Thursday.
This rumor circulated after Purbaya attended the plenary meeting regarding the revision of the Law on Amendments to Law Number 4 of 2023 concerning the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (P2SK) in the DPR RI.
