JK: Pemerintah Hanya Berikan Pekerjaan ke 4 Juta Orang, Lapangan Kerja Justru Dibuat Pengusaha

JAKARTA - The 10th and 12th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla (JK), considers creativity, courage to take risks, and trust (trust) to be important capital for the younger generation to face global economic challenges while encouraging national economic growth.

In the Amartha Asia Grassroots Forum in Jakarta, JK said the changing landscape of the world economy today is marked by the increasing role of the state in economic activity.

However, economic growth still depends on the ability of the private sector and the community to create investments and jobs.

"Now the economy in Indonesia and in the world is an economy that involves more state roles. People suggest a larger government role than before," JK said in his statement as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, June 4.

According to him, the government and business actors need to walk hand in hand to maintain the balance of economic development. The government plays a role in creating policies that support the business climate. Meanwhile, the private sector is the main driver of productive economic activity.

"The government only provides jobs to about four million people, which provides employment to almost all people, it is the entrepreneurs who make economic activities and investments," he said.

JK assessed that efforts to strengthen entrepreneurship need to continue to be encouraged, including through the use of various financing facilities that have been provided by the government such as the People's Business Loan (KUR). According to him, the main capital in building a business is not merely funds, but the ability to present ideas and innovations.

"If you want to try, the first capital is innovation, creativity, and ideas. That's number one. The second is just capital," he said.

He also encouraged the younger generation to utilize technological developments, including artificial intelligence (AI) to increase productivity and create new business opportunities.

According to JK, mastering technology is one of the important factors so that Indonesia does not only rely on natural resources as a mainstay of the economy.

"Don't just depend on natural resources. How do we build our own technological capabilities. With will and courage, it can be done," he said.

In addition to creativity and innovation, JK emphasized the importance of maintaining trust in running a business. He assessed that trust is the main foundation for business actors to gain support from the community and financial institutions.

"An entrepreneur's capital is trust. Once you don't have trust, people won't trust you," said JK.

He said that the combination of creativity, mastery of technology, courage to take risks, and integrity would be an important factor to strengthen the competitiveness of the younger generation while supporting Indonesia's economic growth amid global uncertainty.
