Significantly Increased, Indonesia's Electrification Ratio Reaches 99.83 Percent
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) reported that, up to the first quarter of 2026, the national electrification ratio in Indonesia reached 99.83 percent, significantly increased from 91.16 percent in 2016.
"This achievement shows that access to electricity for the people in Indonesia is getting more real and approaching full electrification, and most provinces have achieved electrification above 100 percent, even some have reached 100 percent, namely in Bali and in Jakarta," said Acting Director General of Electricity of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Tri Winarno during a Public Hearing with Commission XII of the DPR RI, Thursday, June 4.
According to Tri, the government's commitment related to the village electrification program is a strong commitment of the government under the direct direction of President Prabowo Subianto who targets to electrify all villages throughout Indonesia within four years.
He added that in an effort to expand access to electricity, the government has also set four strategies that are appropriate for regional conditions, namely network expansion or grid, mini-grid, individual PV and batteries, and New Electricity Installation Assistance (BPBL).
Tri said that the roadmap for the village electricity program (lisdes) and BPBL in 2025-2029 was compiled as a national road map to complete the equitable access to electricity sustainably.
In 2025, the program is focused on 1,285 locations with a potential customer base of 77,616 with a target for 2026 to increase to 2,065 locations or an increase of 40 locations with a potential customer base of 173,853.
"The initial target for lisdes is for 2025 of 1,285 locations, where in the process we experience budget optimization that can increase to 1,516 locations, where the construction has been completed 100 percent and has been equipped with SLO," said Tri.
He added that the lisdes program was spread across various provinces with the largest number of locations in East Nusa Tenggara with 113 locations, East Java with 142 locations, Central Java with 113 locations, West Java with 120 locations.
Then Central Sulawesi with 94 locations, North Sumatra with 78 locations, West Kalimantan with 78 locations, Yogyakarta Special Region with 64 locations and South West Papua with 63 locations.
Furthermore, for the implementation of the 2026-2027 lisdes program, Tri said that this program was designed with a scheme for the construction of distribution networks and communal PLTS which includes 3,850 locations with a total requirement of Rp. 18.65 trillion.
"The budget for the Lisdes-2026 program has been fixed at Rp. 10.3 trillion consisting of regular pure rupiah of Rp. 994 billion and additional budget of around Rp. 9.3 trillion," said Tri.
