Albino Buffalo Named Donald Trump Makes a Big Splash at the Bangladesh Zoo

JAKARTA - An albino water buffalo named Donald Trump suddenly became a new star at the national zoo in Bangladesh. The reason is unique. His piranha mane is considered similar to the hair of US President Donald Trump.

Quoted from Kyodo News, Thursday, June 4, the rare buffalo weighing around 700 kilograms began to attract attention after his video went viral on social media. Albino is a condition when an animal has a very pale body color due to a lack of pigment.

Initially, the animal was at a farm outside Dhaka. The buffalo was originally to be slaughtered for the Eid al-Adha celebrations.

However, the Bangladeshi government ordered the animals to be moved to a zoo for security reasons.

Since then, visitors have been coming. They crowded near the fence, recorded with their cellphones, and lifted children so they could see more clearly.

Zoo officials also gave special treatment. The buffalo's hair was combed to the side. His body was sprayed with water to keep it cool in the hot weather.

"There is a resemblance to Donald Trump from his eyes, hair style, and skin color," said Mohammed Nasim, a student in Dhaka.

According to Nasim, the buffalo is now enjoying great attention after going viral. He even said that the special treatment of the buffalo was similar to the life of a famous figure.

However, not everyone agrees with the name.

Mohammad Joynal Adedin, a resident of Dhaka, considered the naming of Donald Trump for livestock inappropriate. Even so, he still came to the zoo to see the buffalo directly.

"Naming livestock with the name of one of the most influential leaders in the world is clearly not the right decision," he said.

Kyodo News reported that a sign reading "Donald Trump" was briefly posted near the enclosure. However, the board was later removed. The zoo curator was also dismissed on Saturday, although the official reason was not explained.

The buffalo had previously been sold ahead of Eid al-Adha. After the Minister of Home Affairs Salahuddin Ahmed ordered the police to take over the animal, the buyer's money was returned.

Mohammad Habibur Rahman, a visitor from Jashore, said he had seen a Facebook post saying "Donald Trump" would be sacrificed.

Later, he heard that the buffalo was not slaughtered and was moved to the zoo. Curiosity brought him to Dhaka.

"So I came to the zoo to see Donald Trump myself," he said.
