Directorate General of Immigration Prepares Replacement for Officials Detained by the KPK
JAKARTA - The Directorate General (Ditjen) of Immigration, Ministry of Immigration and Correction (Kemenimipas) is preparing a replacement for officials detained by the KPK related to the alleged extortion case to ensure public services continue.
Kemenimpas stated that it had deactivated the relevant officials from their positions as a step to enforce internal discipline.
Minister of Imipas Agus Andrianto said the step was taken to ensure that the legal process could run without obstacles, as well as the smooth functioning of public services.
"We ensure that immigration services to the public continue to run normally in all service units and are not affected by the ongoing legal process," said Agus as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 4.
A total of eight people from the state or civil servant (ASN) organizing elements who had or were serving at the Ministry of Imipas were detained by the KPK, namely Deputy Minister of Imipas Silmy Karim.
Then some of them are the Head of the West Jakarta Class I Immigration Office, Ronald Arman Abdullah, the Head of the West Java Immigration Directorate General, Jaya Saputra, who had served as the Director of Residence Permits and Immigration Status for the period November 2024-October 2025, to the Acting Director General of Immigration for the period October 2024-April 2025, Saffar Muhammad Godam.
Previously, Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko said his party was preparing a replacement candidate after it was confirmed that there was a detention by the KPK.
"If it is confirmed that it has been detained by the KPK, we have prepared a replacement candidate. But at least the service process will continue as usual because it is covered by the Regional Office," said Hendarsam.
All immigration officials detained by the KPK are now suspects because they are suspected of being related to the extortion case.
Seven ASN in the Immigration environment were detained after a hand-in-hand operation (OTT) was carried out by the KPK, while Minister Silmy Karim came to surrender.
In addition to these eight ASN, the KPK also arrested nine people from the private sector who played a role as intermediaries in handling immigration documents.
