Wuling Optimistic PHEV Market Continues to Grow in Indonesia
JAKARTA - Wuling Motors is optimistic that the PHEV market continues to grow in Indonesia, this is in line with the booking of its latest SUV 7-seater model Eksion. From the data shared, the booking of the PHEV variant grew compared to the Darion MPV.
Wuling Motors Senior Brand Communication Manager, Brian Gomgom, revealed that the Eskion booking was 70 percent EV and 30 percent PHEV. It is slightly up compared to Darion (80 percent EV and 20 percent PHEV).
"That is an indicator that the PHEV market also has the opportunity to grow even larger in the future, especially for consumers who want the efficiency of electric vehicles but still have the flexibility of a gasoline engine for long-distance travel," he said, during the Media Test Drive Wuling Eksion in Purwokerto, Wednesday, June 3.
"From the beginning, EV is the same since we released Darion. This is because the public's top of mind is Wuling as an electric vehicle manufacturer," he added.
According to him, Wuling Eksion consumers come from various backgrounds. Some are loyal customers who have previously used Wuling products, while others are new buyers who are interested in the electrification technology offered.
"In the past, when EVs first came out, they were not as popular as they are now. But as time has progressed, even people now see Wuling as synonymous with electric vehicle manufacturers," he said.
In terms of specifications, the Wuling Eksion has dimensions of 4,745 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, 1,755 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,810 mm which is designed to provide a spacious cabin and maximum comfort for passengers.
In the PHEV variant, Wuling embeds a 1,500 cc hybrid engine combined with an electric motor. The combination produces engine power of 105 hp with a torque of 130 Nm, while the electric motor produces 195 hp and a torque of 230 Nm. Armed with a 20.5 kWh battery, the mileage is claimed to be able to exceed 1,000 kilometers.
Meanwhile, the Wuling Eksion EV relies on a 69.2 kWh battery that can travel up to 530 kilometers on a single charge. The electric motor produces 150 kW of power and 310 Nm of torque and already supports CCS2 DC Fast Charging technology.
