The Government Decided to Increase the HET for Minyakita
JAKARTA - The government has decided to raise the highest retail price (HET) of people's cooking oil, Minyakita. The decision was agreed upon in a coordination meeting at the ministerial level for the food sector held today.
Trade Minister Budi Santoso said the government had agreed to correct the HET Minyakita. Even so, Budi admitted that the amount of the increase had not been agreed upon. Including when the new HET determination time.
Furthermore, Budi revealed the reason why the amount of the increase in the HET Minyakita has not been determined. He said, because the government wants to see the development of crude palm oil (CPO) prices first.
"Following up on the previous meeting at the Food Ministry, so today we agreed to increase the HET for Minyakita. The price has not been agreed upon and when it will be determined for the determination. Why? Because we want to see again the development of CPO prices," he said in a press conference, at the Ministry of Trade Office, Jakarta, Thursday, June 4.
Budi said that currently the price of CPO is still fluctuating. The price of the commodity had experienced an increase with an average of Rp. 15,445 per kilogram (kg). However, it also experienced a decline to Rp. 14,000 per kg.
"And yesterday the price of TBS also fell but now it has started to rise again. So we will see the price is stable, then only determine how much the increase in HET Minyakita," he said.
Even so, Budi admitted that it was not closed that in the near future the decision on the amount of HET Minyakita would be announced immediately.
"So we agreed like that, maybe in one or two weeks, we will immediately make adjustments if the price is relatively normal, yes, CPO prices," he said.
