Construction of Jakarta LRT Phase 1B by Waskita Karya reaches 93.07 percent
JAKARTA - PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk together with PT Jakarta Propertindo (Perseroda) has started a series of Testing and Commissioning (T&C) of the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B Velodrome-Manggarai railway system not long ago.
One of them is carrying out a track test along a 3.6 kilometer track that connects the Velodrome Station with the Pramuka Station.
President Director of Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) Iwan Takwin said that the T&C phase was carried out in detail so that the entire system was ready to be used. This process includes systematic and structured testing of all components and subsystems before commercial operations are carried out, ranging from lines, signaling, electricity to operational integration.
"Every meter on the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B flyover is our responsibility to the people of DKI Jakarta who will rely on the LRT every day. Therefore, this T&C stage must be prepared very carefully," said Iwan in a written statement, Wednesday, June 3.
Meanwhile, Waskita Karya's Director of Operations II Paulus Budi Kartiko said the company's involvement in the construction of LRT Phase 1B is not only related to construction work, but also an opportunity to show results or showcase capabilities. The project with high visibility (high visibility) makes the quality of work directly impact the long-term reputation.
The scope of Waskita's work on the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B includes civil, rail, system and operation integration.
The company continues to rush the solution so that it can be immediately utilized by the public.
It is known that the realization of the construction of the project worth Rp4.1 trillion has now reached 93.07 percent.
"In the process of working, the main challenge (urban constraint) that we face as contractors includes the dense Jakarta traffic and limited work space. So the solution, we optimize working hours at night which requires focus and innovation on safety and work systems. We see this as a constraint that must be managed, not avoided," said Paulus in an official statement, Wednesday, June 3.
In the implementation of the track lane test, he said, one of the areas crossed was the crossing over the Wiyoto-Wiyono Active Toll Road at kilometer 1+700 to 2+100.
The company also uses the balance cantilever method with a span of 120 meters to minimize traffic disruption on the toll road.
"Construction safety, both in the security of the cantilever construction and road users must be prioritized," he said.
He added that monitoring surveys and chambers were also carried out periodically every day.
The team in the field also installed a safety net around the balance girder segment.
Due to these measures, Waskita managed to achieve zero accidents or no accidents at all in the construction process of the Jakarta 1B LRT balance cantilever.
"The Wiyoto-Wiyono crossing is one of the most important icons in the lane test some time ago. So this success indicates the progress of Indonesian construction which can brew public transportation modes alongside existing active lanes in the midst of Jakarta's activity density," he said.
Paulus said that coordination with Jakpro as the project owner was also strengthened, so that the series of T&Cs could run smoothly.
This stage is considered important because it aims to ensure the readiness of the Jakarta LRT system to carry tens of thousands of passengers every day.
"Good cooperation with Jakpro as the owner has made the results of the track test or train run have been carried out twice without obstacles. As the principle of Jakpro which always prioritizes sustainability in every project, this train run will also be an internal evaluation to prepare the next step of testing," he explained.
In addition, the results of the train run also showed that the train was able to run smoothly using full power electricity from the Velodrome to Pramuka Market.
"Waskita Karya continues to be committed to providing the best results so that this transportation facility is not only safe, but also comfortable to use," he said.
Furthermore, Paulus is optimistic that the presence of the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B can reduce traffic density while strengthening inter-regional connectivity and public transportation integration in the capital.
"We are optimistic that the presence of the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B will add modern public transportation options. Then, make it easier for residents to move and encourage a shift from private vehicles to public transportation," he concluded.
