"How I Met Your Mother" star sentenced to 32 years in prison after stabbing ex-boyfriend
JAKARTA - Actor and producer Nick Pasqual was sentenced to 32 years in prison for a case he committed in 2024. The star of "How I Met Your Mother" was found guilty after stabbing his ex-girlfriend, a makeup artist named Allie Shehorn.
The 36-year-old actor was found guilty after being found guilty of attempted murder, rape, theft, injuring a partner and violence that caused physical injury. The jury also stated that he had used a knife when the crime was committed.
He was sentenced on Tuesday at San Fernando Magistrates' Court for a number of offences between January and May 2024. Shehorn was also present to give evidence during the trial.
Authorities revealed that Nick Pasqual tried to enter Allie Shehorn's house on May 23, 2024 in Sunland at 4:30 a.m. local time. Then Pasqual stabbed her 20 times before fleeing and being detained on the border in Texas.
After the attack, Shehorn underwent emergency surgery and spent several days in intensive care.
"Today's sentence of 32 years to life makes Nick Pasqual responsible for the horrific crime he committed against someone he once loved and trusted," District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said in a statement, citing Deadline.
"Allie Shehorn miraculously survived and bravely stood up to the perpetrator in court to testify about the brutality she experienced. Her testimony at trial was crucial in securing a guilty verdict so that Pasqual is no longer free to hurt others," he explained.
Pasqual's sentence was also thanks to Shehorn's testimony. Shehorn made it clear that the violence would continue to grow when the victim lived in silence.
"This can erupt into life-threatening violence, and too many victims never get the chance to see their perpetrators brought to justice," he said again.
Actor Nick Pasqual is known for his role in the series How I Met Your Mother. He also starred in Archive 81 and Poor Paul before becoming a producer for the National Day Riff series.
His ex-girlfriend, Allie Shehorn, was a makeup artist for several titles such as Mean Girls, Babylon, and Rebel Moon.
