Bunga Zainal Accompanied by Her Husband to Handle the Alleged Blank Check Case Worth Billions
JAKARTA - Actress Bunga Zainal was seen visiting the National Police Headquarters to accompany her husband, Sukhdev Singh, to inquire about the continuation of the criminal report regarding alleged investment fraud worth billions.
Bunga Zainal said that he was asked to be a witness in the case that ensnared her husband because the reported party with the initials DH was a friend and also the person who offered her husband the coal investment.
"So my arrival here, I am accompanying my husband, and also a witness," said Bunga Zainal at the National Police Headquarters, Tuesday, June 2.
"And why am I a witness here? Because I am also the second defendant in the civil case and also me, it happens that this is also a person I know and I involve myself in the meeting of this case, so I am also involved in that way as a witness," he continued.
In the course of this case, Bunga Zainal and Sukhdev Singh felt that there was a big discrepancy because this case, which was considered simple, had been stuck in the hands of investigators for years.
"We, as Mr. Sukhdev's lawyers, criminally, see that there are irregularities committed by the investigator who handles this case, because this case has been going on for years," said Tommy Sinulingga, Sukhdev Singh's lawyer.
Tommy emphasized that the evidence they had was actually more than enough to establish the suspects. However, until now there has been no significant progress seen from the criminal side.
"In fact, this case is very simple. Our client was persuaded to invest in coal. Our client asked for a guarantee, yes, a check was issued. One check is Rp. 2 billion, there are two more checks of Rp. 330 million in total," continued Tommy.
The irregularities made Sukhdev Singh take firm steps by reporting the investigator to the internal supervisory institution of the National Police. They suspect that there is a practice of "main mata" behind the slowness of this legal process.
"That's why in this case we have reported to Propam and also reported to Irwasum, both at the National Police Headquarters, as well as at the Metro Jaya Police. So, we should actually suspect that this police officer received bribes from the accused," he said again.
For the legal representative, the criminal element in this blank check case is already very bright and does not need to take a long time to be legally proven.
"It means it is a blank check. In terms of criminal elements, it has been very proven, the mens rea, the actus reus has been very proven. But the police officers did not do it professionally in their investigation," said Tommy.
Sukhdev Singh himself explained that this report had actually been sent by him a long time ago through his previous lawyer, but his fate seemed to be hanging.
"Well, this is the report of his plea at that time, I had empowered my lawyer earlier. It was reported in August 2024. It just so happens that a civil lawsuit was also reported at the same time," said Sukhdev.
Bunga Zainal also hopes that her arrival this time can provide light for her husband's justice. She is here to ensure that the report dated May 13, 2024 is processed properly.
"Last May, the report was actually entered, right? We are here at the Presidential Palace to ask for the next report. Yes, later after it is entered," concluded Bunga Zainal.
