Israel Attacks Gaza, the Number of Palestinian Casualties Increases to 72,942 People
JAKARTA - The number of Palestinian deaths has increased again, as Israel's attack on the Gaza Strip has claimed lives in separate incidents.
Gaza health officials said on Tuesday that three Palestinians were killed by Israeli strikes in separate incidents in the Gaza Strip.
Medical officials said at least one person was killed and four others were wounded when an Israeli air strike hit a vehicle east of Deir Al-Balah in central Gaza Strip, causing the vehicle to be torn to pieces, Al Arabiya reported from Reuters (2/6).
Another attack earlier the same day killed one person and wounded another in the nearby town of Zawayda, they added, while Israeli fire killed a man in the northwest of Khan Younis, south of the territory.
The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the two incidents.
The October 2015 ceasefire, mediated by US President Donald Trump, failed to stop Israel's attacks on the Palestinian enclave.
Israel and Hamas are at an impasse in indirect talks on the implementation of the second phase of the deal, which includes the group's disarmament and the withdrawal of Israeli forces.
The ceasefire left Israel in control of more than half of Gaza, while Hamas controlled a small coastal strip.
Meanwhile, medical sources in the Gaza Strip said that the cumulative death toll from the ongoing Israeli attacks since October 7, 2023 has risen to 72,942 dead and 172,967 injured, amid the continued targeting of civilians and the worsening humanitarian crisis in addition to the collapse of the health system, reported WAFA.
The sources said the figures were part of a daily update issued by Gaza health authorities documenting the death toll since the start of the offensive, noting serious difficulties in rescue operations and access to affected areas.
They added that since the ceasefire on October 11, the total number of deaths has reached 933, while the number of injured has reached 2,868, in addition to 781 bodies found from under the rubble.
On the other hand, four Israeli soldiers have been killed by militants during the same period, the country's military said.
Health and humanitarian agencies also warned that the continued attacks and restrictions on rescue and medical teams were deepening the humanitarian disaster, increasing the number of casualties, and hindering recovery and treatment efforts.
