Checked Regarding Hajj Quota, Yaqut's Legal Representative Said There Was No Confirmation of the Flow of Funds
JAKARTA - The legal representative of the former Minister of Religion (Menag), Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, Melissa Anggraini, said there were no questions regarding the flow of funds investigated by the KPK investigators through an examination today.
Melissa also said that there was no new question material from the previous examination that was directed at Yaqut. He said the examination was still focused on the policy of distributing the hajj quota.
"There are almost no new questions and until the examination, there was no confirmation of the flow (of funds) to him at all," he told reporters after the examination, Tuesday, June 2.
He emphasized that there was no evidence of communication or orders given by his client to obtain the flow of funds as alleged by the KPK.
During the examination, Melissa said, Yaqut also conveyed to the investigators that the policy of adding the quota for the Hajj was the result of a study from the Director General of PHU.
"As a part that has the task to make formulations and studies related to the implementation of the hajj," he said.
In addition, Melissa emphasized that he only learned about the alleged action of requesting funds by the Pansus after returning from Europe.
Melissa explained that at that time Yaqut was angry and ultimatum that the parties who received the money should immediately return it in a meeting with the Directorate General of PHU and the Hajj Sub-Committee.
"He said 'Whoever receives the money flow should immediately be delivered at the meeting. Please put it on the table, please deliver it like that. If you are embarrassed, just tell me directly'," said Melissa, imitating.
Therefore, Melissa questioned why until now the KPK had not ensnared the parties who had proven to have received the flow of haj quota funds in the Directorate General of PHU itself.
"That is a question mark for us too. Because the KPK has said that there are parties who accept. Then those parties have also admitted to receiving, but to this day no legal process has been carried out. Of course we also question that there should not be a disparity in law enforcement," he concluded.
