The Victim Died from the Explosion of a Bomb Left by World War II in Biak Became 6 People
JAKARTA - Head of Public Relations of the Papua Regional Police, Kombes Cahyo Sukarnito, said that the death toll due to the explosion of a bomb suspected of being a World War II relic in Biak on Sunday (31/5) increased to six people.
The increase in the number of victims of the bomb explosion came after a victim named Mina Puadi (51) was reported dead on Tuesday, June 2 in the early hours.
Initially, the victim who suffered minor injuries complained about his condition. After being examined intensively by doctors at the Biak Regional Hospital, the victim was hospitalized, but on Tuesday morning he was reported to have died.
"With the death of Mina, there are currently six people who have become victims of the explosion of World War II bombs in Biak, Sunday (31/5)," said Cahyo Sukarnitodi Jayapura as reported by ANTARRA.
Meanwhile, the five deceased victims who were previously recorded were Deflin Raubaaba (41), Moris Raubaaba (24), Karmila Ayorbaba (25), Israel Raubaaba (7), and Isril Raubaaba (5).
He said that from the reports received, initially 19 people were recorded as injured in the incident, including the deceased Mina Puadi.
The bomb that exploded in the Fisheries Complex area, Fandoi Village, Biak City District, Biak Numfor Regency, Sunday (31/5), also resulted in three people being reported missing.
Three people were reported missing, namely Yulianus Raubaba (26), Lae Madura (45), and Abis Marandof (27).
The search for the three people is still being carried out by the joint SAR team, but the search is being carried out on the edge of the beach or the outer line from the crime scene (TKP).
The crime scene cannot be disturbed because the Papua Police bomb disposal team is still sterilizing to secure the area from explosives.
"After it was declared safe, the Papua Police labfor team will conduct a crime scene investigation," said Cahyo.
