Central Jakarta PMI Helps Handle Kemayoran Fire Refugees

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Central Jakarta has deployed a health team and ambulance fleet to the location of the fire in the Jiung Market area, Kebon Kosong, Kemayoran, to help provide first aid for affected residents.

The Chairman of the Jakarta Central PMI, Asep Djuanda, when met at the Jusuf Hamka Field evacuation location, Jalan Benyamin Suaeb, Tuesday morning, explained that his party had sent two ambulances to the scene shortly after receiving the report of the fire.

In addition to medical assistance, PMI is also preparing tent assistance to accommodate residents who have lost their homes.

"We are preparing two tent units that will arrive soon to accommodate the refugees," said Asep as quoted by Antara.

Regarding the fulfillment of logistical needs, especially the consumption of residents in the evacuation, Asep revealed that his party continued to coordinate with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Social Service.

Asep explained that PMI took a role in distributing aid at night, while the Social Service dealt with the needs during the day.

Regarding post-disaster trauma management, especially for children, Asep emphasized that his party had special procedures related to evacuation and recovery (recovery). However, at this time PMI still prioritizes the emergency response phase.

"Regarding trauma recovery, we have procedures for evacuation and recovery. Currently, we are still coordinating with the provincial PMI and focusing on disaster management in the emergency response phase," explained Asep.

Until now, the PMI team is still on standby at the location to monitor the health conditions of residents and support the disaster management efforts carried out by the local government.

The fire that hit the densely populated area in the Pasar Haji Jiung Village, Jalan Kemayoran Gempol, Kebon Kosong, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, on Monday (1/6/2026) evening started at around 20.55 WIB.

The DKI Jakarta Gulkarmat Office deployed 35 fire trucks with 165 personnel to tame the fire, which was allegedly caused by an electrical short circuit.

Based on the latest data on the information board, this disaster is estimated to have affected around 250 houses and 330 heads of households (KK).

Until now, the authorities are still continuing to handle and data collection at the scene. Meanwhile, the extinguishing process accompanied by cooling is still ongoing until 03.00 WIB.
