Jensen Huang Lyrics South Korean Robotics

JAKARTA - Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang named robotics as one of the attractive investment areas in South Korea. The statement came ahead of his visit to Seoul and plans to meet with a number of Korean conglomerates.

Yonhap quoted Monday, June 1, reported that Huang conveyed this to South Korean journalists in Taipei, Thursday. He also opened the possibility of holding Nvidia GTC, Nvidia's main conference for artificial intelligence or AI and new technologies, in South Korea if the country wanted it.

According to industry sources, Huang is scheduled to arrive in Seoul on Thursday evening. On Friday, he is expected to begin a series of meetings with South Korean business leaders.

When asked about the investment opportunities in South Korea, Huang said it was always considered. The reason is that South Korea has strong infrastructure and business world.

He specifically mentioned robotics. According to Huang, the sector is important for South Korea and Nvidia hopes to help promote its development.

Huang also touched on the issue of South Korea's shrinking workforce. On the other hand, he assessed that the country has great imagination and creativity. With the help of AI and robots, he said, this potential can be maximized.

Industry sources said the meeting with Huang was likely attended by SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, as well as founder and Chairman of the Board of Naver Lee Hae-jin. Hyundai Motor Group CEO Euisun Chung is also said to be considering attending.

However, Huang was reluctant to open the list of names he would meet. He just joked that the important thing was that he would eat fried chicken and samgyeopsal, Korean-style grilled pork belly.

The comment reminded the Korean public of Huang's previous visit to Seoul in October. At that time, he drew attention after a late-night meal with Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Euisun Chung. They ate Korean fried chicken and beer, known as chimaek.

Industry observers assess that this time the meeting could go further than AI semiconductor cooperation. Discussions are also expected to include robotics and physical AI, which is technology that combines AI with machines and systems in the real world.

Lee Jae-yong is expected to be absent due to having an overseas schedule.

Naver and Nvidia are also said to be discussing the possibility of Huang's visit to Naver 1784, Naver's second office building, possibly next Monday.

The 28-story building in Gyeonggi Province, south of Seoul, is known as a test site for Naver's technology, ranging from robots, cloud computing, to 5G networks.

AMD CEO Lisa Su previously visited the building in March and signed a memorandum of understanding with Naver regarding an AI infrastructure partnership.
