The Corrs Prepare New Album After Almost 10 Years

JAKARTA - The Corrs have given a strong signal that they will return with a new album. The Irish family band revealed that they were entering the studio to prepare the first album in almost ten years.

This news is interesting because The Corrs are not a small name. The group that rose to fame in the 1990s has sold more than 40 million records worldwide. For listeners who grew up with radio, CDs, and MTV, The Corrs' name has its own place.

Quoted from The Mirror, Sunday, May 31, The Corrs reunited after their last tour. The group consists of four siblings: Andrea, Sharon, Caroline, and Jim Corr.

They were present at a celebration in Dundalk, Ireland, and then posed for a number of photos. But the most important news came from Caroline Corr.

Caroline, 53, said The Corrs are now recording a new album. He admitted that the decision even surprised them.

"We've done a lot of different things in the last few years, and we're recording another album. I have to admit, this is actually really surprising for us," said Caroline.

According to Caroline, working as a family band is not always easy. They have been together for years. However, the question of whether they will still make new recordings always arises.

"Because, of course, we've been working together for years as a family. We always think, 'Oh my God, will we ever make a record again?'" he said.

Caroline said, at first they just thought they would go into the studio and make some songs. However, this simple plan developed into something bigger.

"Every time we go into the studio, we start it, and before we thought, ah, this won't be a problem. We'll just go in, make some songs, and then it always turns into something else," he said.

Finally, The Corrs chose to continue the process. They have not confirmed when the album will be completed.

"And we finally decided to continue it. Hopefully we can finish it someday. But it feels good. It's amazing to be back in the studio and writing again. We ourselves can't believe that we are still able to do that," said Caroline.

The Corrs were once one of the prominent bands in the 1990s. They released their first album, Forgiven, Not Forgotten, in 1995. The album sold more than 3 million copies in the UK alone.

Their second album, Talk On Corners, was released in 1997. Three years later, The Corrs released In Blue in 2000. From there, their name became more widely known in the international music market.

For fans in Indonesia, The Corrs are also not a foreign name. Their songs have been familiar on radio and music television. Their music is easy to get into the ears: pop, folk, Irish touch, and neat vocal harmonies.

Even so, gathering four siblings in one band is not easy. Still quoted from The Mirror, Andrea Corr once talked about it in an interview on This Morning in 2019.

"We all want to play together again. I'm happy to be the singer in our band. But it's hard to get us all together because of the kids," said Andrea.

Apart from the news of the new album, The Corrs also caught attention when they saw a large mural depicting them in Dundalk. The mural measures 18 meters by 8 meters.

Andrea said the size of the mural surprised him. However, he considered the artwork "fantastic".

Caroline also praised the artist Mister Copy who made the mural.

"Things like this are very difficult to capture. The size is really very big. I had only seen it online before, and I imagined it was much smaller," he said.

"It's huge. It's up to the public to judge what it's like, but we really like it," Caroline said.

Now, fans are just waiting to see if the recording process is really finished as a full album. For a band that has been around for more than 30 years, going back into the studio is obviously not a small matter. Moreover, the public is now quickly bored. The Corrs have to prove that they still have songs, not just memories.
