3 Indonesian Bouldering Athletes Qualify for the Final Round of the Madrid 2026 Men's Speed

JAKARTA - At least three Indonesian rock climbers have qualified for the final round of the men's speed event at the 2026 Madrid World Climbing Series after qualifying in Spain, Sunday, May 31.

The three are Veddriq Leonardo, Antasyafi Robby Al Hilmi, and Raharjati Nursamsa.

In the qualifying round of the men's speed event, which was attended by 65 athletes from various countries, the three representatives of the Red and White managed to reach the top 16 to advance to the next round.

Veddriq ranked fourth. The athlete from Pontianak first recorded a time of 4.92 seconds on track B, which was his best record. Because, he was a little slower on track A with a record of 5.06 seconds.

Meanwhile, Robby was in 10th place with a best time of 5.04 seconds on track A, and 6.81 seconds on track B.

Raharjati closed the top 16 with a best time of 5.13 seconds on track B, and 7.5 seconds on track A.

However, another Indonesian representative, Aditya Tri Syahria, was unable to advance to the final round after occupying 27th place in the qualifying results. He recorded a time of 5.34 seconds on track A, and 6.00 seconds on track B.

After the qualifying round, Veddriq, Robby, and Raharjati will compete again in the final round around Monday, June 1, early morning WIB.

Previously, three Indonesian female athletes, namely Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi, Rajiah Sallsabillah, and Berthidgna Devi Surya Kusuma, managed to qualify for the final round of the women's speed event.

They will compete again in the final round, Sunday, around 23.00 WIB.

Participation in Madrid is an important momentum for Indonesia after the results achieved at the 2026 Wujiang World Climbing Series in China were not entirely satisfactory.

In the Wujiang series, Desak Made became the only medal winner for Indonesia in the midst of the tight competition faced by the national team.

The Indonesian Bouldering Federation (FPTI) then sent nine speed athletes, consisting of five male athletes and four female athletes. However, the men's sector failed to contribute a medal and had to go home without standing on the podium.
