Allegedly Due to Carburetor Cleaner, Tangerang Motorcycle Workshop Burns, One Woman Dies
TANGERANG - A fire hit a workshop on Jalan Raya Pesar, RT 07/RW 03, Sukamulya Village, Cikupa District, Tangerang Regency, Banten, on Sunday. The incident resulted in a woman with the initials JA (19) dying.
The Criminal Investigation Unit (Reskrim) of the Cikupa Police is currently investigating the exact cause of the fire that killed the victim.
Kanit Reskrim Polsek Cikupa Ipda Syaiful Rusdiansyah said that his party had examined a number of witnesses who were at the scene of the incident.
"It is still in the process of investigation for the alleged occurrence of the fire incident," said Syaiful.
Based on the witness's statement, the fire is suspected to have started when one of the workshop employees was repairing a motorcycle by welding on the water shield. The fire then appeared and spread to the workshop building.
From the results of the interim analysis, the police suspect that the starting point of the fire came from a motorcycle that was being repaired. At that time, the vehicle was sprayed with carburetor cleaning fluid which is suspected to have triggered the fire until the fire got bigger.
"Based on the preliminary analysis, the starting point of the fire is suspected to have originated from a motorcycle that was in the process of being repaired, which at that time was sprayed with carburetor cleaning fluid, which triggered the fire to spread to the surrounding area," he said.
In the incident, JA was allegedly trapped in the bathroom in the workshop area when the fire grew. The victim was found dead with burns all over his body.
The officers then evacuated the victim's body to Balaraja Hospital for further examination.
Meanwhile, the BPBD Tangerang Regency deployed two units of the fire brigade to put out the fire. After several hours of the extinguishing process, officers finally managed to control the fire and sterilize the scene.
