Lenteng Agung Jaksel's Amblas Road Repair Costs Rp380 Million

JAKARTA - The South Jakarta City Government (Pemkot Jaksel) has allocated a budget for the repair of dilapidated water channels in the Lenteng Agung area, Jagakarsa, of around Rp380 million.

"This is around Rp380 million for the whole thing until it is completed in two weeks," said Head of the South Jakarta Sub-Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Santo, Sunday.

Santo said the budget of Rp. 380 million was used for all the series of repair work until it was completed.

According to him, currently officers prioritize handling the main part of the channel which is under the road body so that traffic can return to normal as soon as possible.

Santo explained that the priority work includes installing box culverts and restoring the road hardening along about 10 meters.

The South Jakarta Water Resources Office (SDA) targets the road function to return to normal in three days, while all work is completed in two weeks.

"The essence is that we are chasing in three days. Last Monday, traffic was clear, it was no longer jammed," he said.

He said the work had started the night before with the installation of four 4-meter-long box culverts. After that, officers will continue to compact and cast the road pavement.

However, Santo admitted that the repair process faced obstacles in the form of traffic congestion around the location. "If it can be closed completely, the work can be more free and faster," he said.

In addition to repairing the dilapidated channel, the SDA Director also coordinated with the utility owners regarding a number of poles and cable networks that were affected by the work. Later, the utility foundation repair will be carried out after the paving installation is completed.

Regarding the potential for similar incidents, Santo assessed that it was necessary to check old channels, especially crossing channels that are below the road section.

"It must be checked again because there are many crossings that may be more than 25 years old," he said.

The check, he continued, will involve related agencies, including the Road Construction Sub-Department, considering that there are many channel infrastructure under the general road section.

He apologized to the public for the congestion that occurred during the repair process and hoped that the main work could be completed immediately according to the target.
