Former Indonesian Minister of Defense, Ryamizard Ryacudu, Dies at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto

JAKARTA - Former Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2014-2019 Ryamizard Ryacudu died at the Army Central Hospital (RSPAD) Gatot Soebroto, Jakarta, Sunday.

Head of the Defense Information Bureau of the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Arm Rico Ricardo Sirait, said Ryamizard died at 14.03 WIB after undergoing treatment in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) room at RSPAD.

"Yes, we received the sad news that General TNI (Purn) Ryamizard Ryacudu had died today, Sunday, May 31, 2026 at 14.03 WIB at RSPAD," said Rico in Jakarta, Sunday.

He explained that the deceased's body was in the process of being transferred to the autopsy room at the RSPAD funeral home.

"The next plan is still waiting for the family's decision," he said.

Ryamizard is a retired high-ranking officer of the Indonesian Army who served as the Chief of Staff of the Army from 2002 to 2005.

During the reign of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, Ryamizard was entrusted to serve as Minister of Defense in the 2014-2019 period.
