Backrooms, a Unique Psychological Thriller Film Set in Yellow Everything
JAKARTA - A24 production house presents the latest psychological thriller film which immediately became a discussion. The film Backrooms directed by Kane Parsons who is only 20 years old is being favored.
The film is developed from Parsons' own web series inspired by the Backrooms story on the creepypasta site. The trailer released also shows how someone bets to be free of the room.
Backrooms tells the story of Clark (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a furniture store owner who is dealing with an addiction problem, especially he has just divorced. He visits therapist Dr. Mary Kline (Renata Reinsve) regularly for healing the problem.
One day, Clark was confused by the electricity bill that increased drastically until the electricity officer found that there was a network installed but not connected to the store. Clark tried to search for the basement area until he found one of the rips in one wall that made him enter the Backrooms.
The film Backrooms premiered on May 7 and received a positive response. With a production budget of 10 million US dollars, they managed to rake in a profit of 10.4 million US dollars in less than a week.
Kane Parsons admitted that he might be able to develop the Backrooms story into a franchise with various stories that can be explored.
In addition to the two, the film is also played by Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett, and Lukita Maxwell.
Meanwhile, the film Backrooms is also planned to be shown in Indonesian cinemas starting June 10.
