Ombudsman Ready to Monitor the Implementation of SPMB 2026
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ombudsman has confirmed its readiness to fully monitor the implementation of the 2026 New Student Admission System (SPMB).
"There are three stages that are supervised by the Ombudsman, ranging from pre-implementation, implementation, to post-implementation," said member of the Indonesian Ombudsman Nuzran Joher Nuzran in a statement in Jakarta, Saturday, which was reported by Antara.
He said that ORI was present to contribute according to its duties and functions through supervision carried out every year.
Nuzran said that throughout 2025, the Indonesian Ombudsman had received 194 reports from the public regarding SPMB.
As a form of systemic improvement, the Indonesian Ombudsman has submitted a number of recommendations and provided improvement suggestions to the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen), the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), and local governments, to support better governance of the implementation of SPMB.
Most recently, the commitment of the ORI's supervision of SPMB has been expressed through the signing of the SPMB Friendly Commitment for the 2026/2027 Academic Year, in Jakarta, Thursday (21/5), which was reported by Antara.
The commitment was signed by Nuzran together with the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti and a number of other ministries and state institutions.
The signing is a strategic step across institutions to ensure that the implementation of SPMB is objective, transparent, accountable, fair, and without discrimination.
Also signing the commitment, namely the Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), the Indonesian Regional Representative Council (DPD), the Presidential Staff Office, the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (PMK), the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag), the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos), and the Ministry of Empowerment of Women and Child Protection (PPPA).
Then, it was also signed by the Indonesian Government Communication Agency (Bakom RI), the Indonesian National Army Headquarters (Mabes TNI), the National Police of the Republic of Indonesia (Polri), the Attorney General's Office, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), to the National Commission for the Disabled (KND).
On this occasion, Nuzran expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Manpower for the initiative to sign a joint commitment.
According to him, this step shows a collective understanding between state institutions to realize a more inclusive implementation of SPMB.
"This is a step forward where there is a collective understanding between state institutions that is reduced to one movement to implement SPMB 2026 in an inclusive, transparent, accountable, and anti-discriminatory manner," he said.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Education and Culture Abdul Mu'ti said the involvement of various institutions in signing the commitment showed strong support for creating a better new student admission system.
"The presence of you is a proof of how personal and institutional support to ensure SPMB runs as well as possible. Let's do it together," said Abdul.
