Road in Lenteng Agung Amblas, Water Channel Under the Road is Allegedly Damaged Due to Rain English:
Jalan amblas di Jalan Raya Lenteng Agung arah Depok, Jakarta Selatan, diduga dipicu kerusakan konstruksi saluran air lama yang berada tepat di bawah badan jalan. Kerusakan itu membuat sebagian badan jalan ambles dengan lebar sekitar 3 meter dan memicu kemacetan panjang di lokasi.
Head of the South Jakarta Water Resources Sub-Office, Santo, revealed that under the road section there was a UI connecting channel crossing (PHB) in the form of a honk or old channel.
"It is true that under Jl Raya Lenteng Agung there is a UI connecting channel (PHB) crossing in the form of a honk (old channel) with a width of approximately 3 meters and a length of approximately 6 meters," Santo told reporters, Friday, May 29.
According to Santo, the road collapse is suspected to be related to the declining condition of the old channel construction after being hit by rain in recent times.
"The road with a width of about 3 meters is suspected to have occurred due to damage to the construction of the water channel which is under the road body. The channel is an old infrastructure that has experienced a decrease in construction conditions due to the rainy season," he said.
He emphasized that the water channel in the Jakarta area is indeed the authority of the DKI Jakarta Water Resources Agency.
Emergency handling was immediately carried out since Friday morning. The SDA Department closed the part of the road that was crumbling using a steel plate while waiting for the permanent repair to begin at night.
"As an initial step in handling, on Friday morning, the Department of Public Works and Public Facilities has secured the location by installing a temporary steel plate to maintain the safety of road users who pass by and to help traffic flow," said Santo.
Heavy equipment has also been deployed to the location to speed up the handling process. Permanent repairs are carried out at night so as not to aggravate vehicle density in the Lenteng Agung area, which is known to be crowded during rush hours.
"Permanent repairs will begin on Friday evening to minimize the impact on traffic density, given that during the day the focus of handling is directed to resolving the congestion that occurs at the location," he explained.
The SDA Office will later replace the old channel construction with a 2-meter-wide concrete box culvert along 16 meters. The work process is estimated to take about two to three days.
"The permanent repair of the channel will use a concrete box culvert measuring 2 meters wide along 16 meters as a replacement for the old construction. The work is estimated to last 2-3 days," said Santo.
The DKI Jakarta Regional Agency for Natural Resources and Environment also apologized for the disruption and urged the public to be careful when passing around the location during the repair process.
