TNI AD Says "Pesta Babi" Film is a Form of Freedom of Expression, but Don't Build Hatred
JAKARTA - The Head of the TNI AD Information Service (Kadsipenad) Brigadier General TNI Donny Pramono said that the screening of the film "Pesta Babi" is part of the right to freedom of opinion and expression that must be respected.
"We respect freedom of expression and freedom of work in a democracy, but every information product also has a moral responsibility not to build a stigma of hatred or distortion of state institutions," said Donny at a press conference in Jakarta, Friday, May 29, reported by ANTARA.
According to Donny, much of the information from the film is not true and has the potential to complicate the situation in the community.
However, Donny did not explain in detail what information was presented in the film, but it was not in accordance with the facts on the ground.
In addition to questioning the truth of the information in the film "Pesta Babi", the TNI AD also asked the filmmakers to be open about the source of the film's funding.
According to Donny, this needs to be done so that the public knows who is responsible for making this film.
"Because transparency is important to maintain objectivity. This is not an accusation, but part of public openness. We are not anti-criticism, but criticism is also built on the balance of data and field facts," said Donny.
