Martian Introduces Amin, a Heartbreak Song with City Pop Rhythm
JAKARTA - Getting into the friendzone trap often leaves a tightness in the chest. However, for the city pop unit from Jakarta, Martian, the broken heart phase does not have to be mourned with tears. Through the latest single titled "Amin", they actually invite listeners to celebrate the sincerity on the dance floor.
Interestingly, Martian, which consists of Hafiz (vocals), Otto (guitar), Monty (guitar), Agung (bass), Morris (drums), and Ade (kibor), deliberately hit the melancholic lyrics with a music arrangement that is upbeat and groovy.
The contrast step seems to be the antithesis of the conventional broken heart song formula which is usually sentimental.
Narratively, "Amin" is built with quite strong lyrics. The story opens with an elegant depiction of the admired figure, wearing a long black dress, a thin smile, and natural makeup.
Unfortunately, the admiration of the main character must collide with the bitter reality that his position is only as a confidant, not the person chosen to accompany.
Frustration was even worse when he had to repeatedly listen to the complaints of his beloved who was actually hurt by someone else.
Then this song reaches its emotional climax at the end through a chant that is catchy.
The selection of "Amin" as the title of the song is not just a sticker. The word transforms into a symbol of the highest phase of acceptance of someone who chooses to give in for the sake of the happiness of others. There is emotional maturity that Martian wants to convey.
"We want to convey the message that letting someone go does not have to be mourned. Sometimes, agreeing to the happiness of the person we love - even if he is anchored on someone else - can be celebrated with a cheerful and pleasant rhythm," said Hafiz in his statement, Friday, May 29.
Through a fresh city pop arrangement, Martian tries to prove that a broken heart doesn't always have to be celebrated with sadness, but can be released elegantly through a sincere prayer.
