French Police Deploy 8 Thousand Officers to Secure G7 Summit

JAKARTA - The French National Police will deploy 8,000 officers from all units to ensure security during the G7 Summit in June.

The G7 summit under the French presidency will take place on June 15-17 in the French resort town of Evian-les-Bains, on the shores of Lake Geneva.

"The National Police will ensure the security and protection of the seven heads of state and their delegations. A total of 8,000 officers from all special units (public security, protection services, law enforcement, judicial police, intelligence, etc.) will be deployed," said a police statement in X. reported by ANTARA from Sputnik, Thursday, May 28.

Security forces will also use drones and anti-drone measures, while security at the border will be tightened.

The G7 leaders will arrive at Geneva airport on June 15, after which they will be under the protection of the French High Official Security Service (SDLP), according to a statement.

Previously in January, the Swiss cabinet said its soldiers would also guard the G7 summit.

Up to 5,000 military personnel could be deployed for this purpose, and the airspace around the Geneva area will also be restricted.
