Israeli Attack on Lebanon Kills 56 in 24 Hours
JAKARTA - The number of deaths due to Israeli attacks in Lebanon in the last 24 hours reached 56 people, with 103 others injured.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health said 3,213 civilians were killed and 9,737 others were injured as a result of Israeli attacks since March 2.
"On May 27, the number of deaths due to the Israeli aggression reached 3,269 people, with 9,840 others injured," the Lebanese Ministry of Health said, as reported by Sputnik, Thursday, May 28.
Israeli warplanes attacked 47 towns and villages in southern and eastern Lebanon on Wednesday, a Lebanese military source told RIA Novosti.
According to the source, the attack mainly targeted major cities such as Nabatieh and Tyre and a number of areas in the Bekaa Valley.
On April 16, the first direct talks between Lebanon and Israel at the ambassadorial level took place in Washington. After the talks, US President Donald Trump announced that the two sides had reached a ceasefire agreement.
Despite the formal agreement, Israel continues to attack dozens of settlements in southern Lebanon every day and controls fire on a number of border settlements.
The Lebanese Hezbollah movement launched a combat operation against Israeli forces in response to the previous situation.
