Putin Congratulates Eid al-Adha, Highlights Role of Muslims in Building Russia
JAKARTA - Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated the Muslim community on Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriyah, especially to the Muslim community in Russia, which he considers to have a major role in building the country.
"I congratulate Muslims in Russia on Eid al-Adha," President Putin said in a statement released by the Kremlin via social media of the Russian Embassy in Jakarta, Wednesday, May 27, reported ANTARA.
Putin stated that Muslims always follow the teachings of Islam and continue the tradition of their ancestors in celebrating the Eid al-Adha widely.
Idul Adha, said Putin, invites believers to return to the sources of Islamic teachings and calls for goodness and justice, love, and piety.
President Putin then highlighted the great role of the Islamic community and Muslim organizations in enriching social and cultural life in Russia.
According to him, Russian Muslims pay great attention to strengthening family values and educating the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism.
They are also very active in carrying out various educational and charitable initiatives of high social value in Russia, Putin said.
The Russian president then conveyed that the efforts of Muslims in Russia in supporting the defenders of the motherland, along with their families, deserve the highest appreciation.
He also hopes that Muslims will always be filled with blessings and success when celebrating Eid al-Adha.
"May you all be blessed with health, success, and the best of everything," Putin said.
Muslims around the world, including in Indonesia and Russia, celebrate Eid al-Adha on Wednesday, which coincides with 10 Dzulhijjah in the Hijri calendar.
