SURGE and Telemedia Officially Launch IRA - Rakyat Internet in Regional-1

JAKARTA - PT Solusi Sinergi Digital Tbk (SURGE) through its subsidiary, PT Telemedia Komunikasi Pratama (Telemedia), today officially launched IRA - Rakyat Internet simultaneously in the Regional-1 area which includes Java, Maluku, and Papua.

The launch of IRA - Internet Rakyat is part of SURGE's strategy to accelerate national digital access equity through the development and utilization of efficient, scalable, and affordable telecommunications infrastructure for the Indonesian people. This initiative is in line with the company's vision to support national digital transformation while narrowing the fixed broadband internet access gap in various regions of Indonesia.

In the midst of increasing digital connectivity needs, Indonesia still faces challenges in the form of relatively high fixed broadband internet access costs compared to a number of countries in the ASEAN region, while the quality and speed of services are not even. This condition is one of the main drivers of the birth of IRA - People's Internet as a fixed broadband connectivity solution that emphasizes accessibility, service quality, and affordability.

With a population of more than 200 million in the regions of Java, Maluku, and Papua, the need for quality and affordable fixed broadband internet services still has a very large growth space and is one of the main focuses of the development of IRA - People's Internet.

Through IRA - Internet Rakyat, SURGE and Telemedia present high-speed fixed broadband internet services up to 100 Mbps at an affordable price of Rp. 100,000, to expand public access to education, digital economy, public services, entertainment, and various new opportunities in the digital era.

As part of the Regional-1 implementation, the IRA - Internet Rakyat infrastructure is currently supported by more than 550 active sites (as of May 26, 2026) and 3,189 radio units that have been installed and operating in more than 82 cities and districts in Java, Maluku, and Papua. This infrastructure is an important foundation in expanding access to high-speed fixed broadband internet to various regions that previously faced limitations in the choice of affordable broadband services.

This achievement is the result of close collaboration between SURGE and Telemedia with various strategic company partners, including technology vendors, local implementation partners, network contractors, financing institutions, and various stakeholders who have the same vision to expand digital access in Indonesia.
