Mental Health Consultations Soar, Gen Z Is the Largest Group

JAKARTA - Mental health problems are now a concern for many people. In recent years, the community has also been judged to be increasingly open to seeking professional help to overcome mental disorders.

This phenomenon is evidenced by the increasing number of mental health consultations on digital health service platforms. This mental health consultation has even become a trend with a significant increase after the 2026 Lebaran moment and has lasted until now.

"Since two weeks before this year's Lebaran, we have seen an increase. At first we thought this was just seasonal, but it turned out not to be so. So, it has continued to rise since then, until now it is still rising," said Halodoc Chief Marketing Officer, Fibriyani Elastria, during the Media Gathering - Halodoc 10th Anniversary, in Jakarta, on Monday, May 25, 2026.

With its continued increase until now, Fibriyani said that concerns related to mental health are indeed becoming more real and open in society.

"So it seems that there is a real concern that may be getting bigger and bigger in society," he added.

The age group that most often consults mental health is the younger generation, which is dominated by Gen Z. The second most users are the millennials, while Gen X has the smallest proportion because mental health issues are not considered too common among them.

This condition shows that young people are now increasingly aware of the importance of psychological health and are not shy to ask for help. They consult with complaints that range from excessive anxiety, depression, prolonged stress, to thoughts that are difficult to control.

Not only that, the interesting thing that was found by the health platform was the tendency of users to be more comfortable expressing mental problems on digital assistants based on artificial intelligence (AI). This mental health consultation is often done late at night.

"If we look at what is also quite interesting is that there are cases where humans are more open to HILDA or to AI than directly to humans for the initial stage. Consultations related to mental health occur a lot in late hours, from 10 o'clock to 2 o'clock in the morning," he explained.

With more and more people using digital health services for mental health consultations and other health problems, Halodoc Chief Operating Officer, Alfonsius Timboel, said that after a decade of standing, the company will continue to provide health services that are closer to the needs of modern society.

"Entering the next decade, we are focused on building a health service that is not only digital, but increasingly proactive, personal, and relevant to the needs and habits of the community, which continues to change as time goes on," concluded Alfonsius Timboel.
