Again Aston Villa Celebration, Prince William Refuses Incoming Phone Call
JAKARTA - Prince William joined the euphoria of Aston Villa when his favorite club won the UEFA Europa League in Istanbul, Turkey, on May 20. In the midst of the celebration, there was a small moment that caught the attention. Prince William refused an incoming phone call in order to continue recording the celebration.
Quoted from People, Tuesday, May 26, the 43-year-old British heir to the throne was seen in the stands as Aston Villa celebrated the victory. William held the phone horizontally and tried to zoom in on the picture towards the field.
That's when the incoming call appeared on the screen. The caller's name was not visible. William immediately pressed the reject button, then continued to record.
The video recorded by William was not shared with the public. However, he later posted a message of congratulations to Aston Villa on social media.
"An incredible night!! Congratulations to all the players, the team, the staff, and everyone associated with the club! It's been 44 years since the last time we felt a European trophy!" wrote William.
He also gave special attention to Boubacar Kamara, Aston Villa's midfielder who is injured in his knee and absent until the end of the season.
"Special thanks to Boubacar Kamara, who is injured but is an important part of our team and helped lay the foundation for this success," William wrote.
William is not a sudden supporter. He has been following Aston Villa for decades. In an interview with BBC in 2015, he admitted that he chose the club because he didn't want to follow his friends who supported Manchester United or Chelsea.
"I want a mid-table team that can give more ups and downs," he said.
The love was passed down to his eldest son, Prince George, who accompanied William several times to watch Aston Villa's big matches.
However, the choice of football clubs in the royal family is different. Princess Charlotte chose Chelsea. When visiting Cornwall, William revealed that his daughter likes Chelsea, according to the Daily Mail.
