Cibuluh Batik Village Ready to Become a New Tourist Attraction in Bogor City

BOGOR - The Cibuluh Batik Village in Cibuluh Village, North Bogor District, is projected to become a flagship education and culture destination in Bogor City through collaboration between the Bogor City DPRD, IPB University, and the University of British Columbia (UBC) Canada.

The development of community-based tourist areas is the focus of an audience between the Chairman of the Bogor City DPRD, Dr. Adityawarman Adil, and a delegation from IPB University and UBC Canada at the Bogor City DPRD Building, Monday, May 25, 2026.

The Chairman of the Bogor City DPRD, Adityawarman Adil, said that Cibuluh Batik Village has great potential to develop as a center for cultural education tourism that is able to attract tourists while strengthening the local economy.

"We feel very honored to receive students and academics from the University of British Columbia who are here to study, exchange ideas, and experience the social and cultural life in Bogor City," said Adityawarman.

According to him, this international collaboration is an important opportunity to introduce Bogor's local cultural potential to the international community, as well as strengthen cross-country relations through education and community development.

Adityawarman assessed that the momentum of the visit was even more special because it took place ahead of the 544th Bogor Anniversary (HJB) on June 3. He emphasized that Bogor City has a wealth of history, culture, and educational spirit that can be an attraction for international tourists and academics.

"We believe this visit can be a valuable opportunity to build meaningful relationships, expand insights, and encourage future cooperation in the fields of education, culture, and community development," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Department of Economic Sciences at IPB University, Tony Irawan, explained that his party together with an international team conducted field assistance from May 1 to 30, 2026 to evaluate the development of Cibuluh Batik Village.

The results of the evaluation showed that there were still a number of challenges that needed to be addressed so that the area could develop into an optimal educational and cultural tourism destination.

"The main problems found include tourist parking facilities and the management of batik production waste, which still need to be improved," said Tony.

In addition, local batik craftsmen also propose the construction of a joint gallery as a center for the promotion and marketing of Cibuluh's typical batik products.

In response to this need, the Bogor City DPRD is said to support the plan to build a joint gallery through coordination with the Bogor City Cooperative and UMKM Office so that it can be included in the next year's budget.

Tony added that the development of the Cibuluh Batik Village is expected not only to strengthen the cultural tourism sector, but also to increase the economic empowerment of local people in a sustainable manner.

He also revealed that a similar mentoring program was planned to continue next year with a focus on developing other areas in Bogor City, namely the Organic Village in the Mulyaharja area, South Bogor.

Through synergy between local governments, academics, and international partners, it is hoped that Cibuluh Batik Village will be able to develop into a new educational and cultural tourism icon in Bogor City that is competitive and has a direct impact on the local community.
