Jambi Police Disrupt the Delivery of 2.3 Kg of Gold from Illegal Mining

JAMBI - The Opsnal team of the Bungo Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Jambi, thwarted the delivery of eight batangemas with a total weight of 2.3 kilograms, allegedly the result of mining without a permit or illegally which will be taken to North Sumatra.

"In the disclosure of the case, officers also secured three people and one black car unit carrying illegal gold to outside the province with the intention of going to North Sumatra," said Bungo Police Chief AKBP ZamriElfino, Monday, May 25, reported by ANTARA.

The disclosure of the case began when the Opsnal Team of the Bungo Police Criminal Investigation Unit carried out a routine patrol in order to anticipate criminal acts in the Bungo Police's jurisdiction.

During the patrol, the members suspected a black vehicle unit with a modified police number and then followed the vehicle to Jalan Lintas Sumatera KM 1 Muara Bungo and immediately carried out an inspection.

During the examination of the driver, passengers, and the contents of the vehicle, officers found eight gold bars allegedly from gold mining without a permit wrapped in clear plastic and black plastic.

"From the initial examination, it is suspected that the gold will be sent to North Sumatra and the origin and legality of the goods are still being investigated," said AKBP Zamri.

Furthermore, the evidence in the form of suspected gold, vehicles, and the three people who were secured was immediately taken to the Bungo Police to undergo further examination and legal process.

Currently, the suspected perpetrators are charged with Article 161 of the Indonesian Law Number 4 of 2009 concerning Mineral and Coal Mining together with Article 20 letter C of the Indonesian Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.
