LIXIL Holds LADC 2026: Indonesia's Prestigious Architecture Competition

JAKARTA - Proving consistency and commitment in advancing the architecture and design industry, LIXIL, a global company that pioneers sustainable water and housing solutions, is proud to once again hold the LIXIL Architectural Design Competition (LADC) 2026.

Since its debut in 2019, LADC has established itself as a prestigious competition stage for Indonesian architects. With internationally objective assessment quality, LADC 2026 once again reaffirms its legitimacy through the involvement of prestigious cross-country jury panels, such as Andra Matin (Founder, AndraMatin Studio), Gregorius Supie (Founder, Yolodi+Maria Architects), to Richard Wood (Managing Partner Asia, Snøhetta); key figures who define the current industry direction.

In line with the profile of the global jury board, LADC 2026 presents an exclusive appreciation that is ready to elevate portfolios and experiences. The winners will have the opportunity to exchange studios at the international firm Snøhetta to learn firsthand about world-class architectural practices, as well as to take the LIXIL Architectural Trip to Nagoya, Japan, an immersive journey to absorb design inspiration and expand insights. In addition, this event also promises extensive publication exposure through various communication channels of LIXIL and media partners as recognition of design excellence.

LADC 2026 has the theme "ARCHIPELAGO DIALOGUES: Architecture as a Space of Co-Creation". This narrative is rooted in Indonesia's character as an archipelago country that is rich in nature, culture, perspective and thinking; a series of different but interconnected identities. Through this topic, LADC 2026 invites professionals and young creators of the country, to explore architecture as an ongoing process that is formed from the diversity of collaborative elements and ideas.

LIXIL's initiative responds to the needs of today's design that emphasizes inclusiveness and sustainability. LADC is not just a competition that is oriented towards the end result, this program is present as a platform to expand the space for dialogue and open access to explore ideas. Furthermore, LADC aims to set a new standard, encourage architects' way of thinking, designing, and realizing a better living space.

"Indonesia is an archipelago country with thousands of identities. From small islands, big cities, natural and cultural wealth, infrastructure differences, to specific challenges such as climate change or urbanization pressure. We believe that from this diversity of contexts, the most relevant ideas for the future are born. LADC does not look for designs that are just beautiful, but ideas that can become conversations and solutions," said Arfindi Batubara, Marketing Director of LIXIL Water Technology Indonesia, in a statement, Monday, May 25.

Registration and collection of works for LADC 2026 is open from May 18 to July 05, 2026. The competition is divided into two main categories, namely the Professional Category and the Student Category. "The selection of these two categories is expected to provide a more inclusive space, both for architects who have experience and for students who are developing their creative potential. We want to ensure that every talent has an equal opportunity to contribute to shaping the future of our architecture," explained Arfindi.

The Professional Category is open to members of the Indonesian Architects Association (IAI) who have an active Architect Registration Certificate (STRA). Meanwhile, the Student Category is open to active students of the S1 and S2 programs of study in Architecture, students of the Architecture Professional Education Program (PPAr), and graduates of S1 Architecture with a maximum graduation period of 2 (two) years at the time of registration. All submitted works must be original works and have never been published or included in other competitions.

Regarding this year's implementation, one of the LADC 2026 judges also gave his opinion. "I hope this competition will be able to ignite the spirit of architecture that is increasingly creative, as well as a driving force in advancing the architecture industry in Indonesia," said Gregorius Supie, Founder of Yolodi+Maria Architects.

The judging process will go through two intensive assessment stages, to determine the Top 5 Finalists until finally choosing the main winner. The peak of the competition and the announcement of the winners will be officially held in an awarding session which is part of the LIXIL Day of Architecture & Design (LDAD) agenda series on August 12, 2026.

The 2026 LADC series is held online (online) to provide easy access for participants from all corners of Indonesia. Complete information regarding terms and conditions, including registration, can be accessed via one.LIXIL.co.id/events/ladc2026.

"Through this event, LIXIL hopes to continue to be a catalyst for change in the Indonesian architecture and design ecosystem. We invite all architects and creative people in Indonesia to join in taking advantage of this opportunity. Together we shape a better and sustainable living space," concluded Arfindi.
