Completion of the Kayuagung-Palembang-Betung Toll Road is being pursued, these two sections are targeted to be completed in September 2026
JAKARTA - The construction of the Kayuagung-Palembang-Betung Toll Road with a total length of 106.81 kilometers (km) continues to be accelerated. The Ministry of Public Works (PU) revealed that currently the acceleration of development is focused on the Palembang-Betung section, especially Sections 1 and 2 which connect Kramasan-Sungai Rengas-Pangkalan Balai.
The Palembang-Betung toll road section is built in three sections. In detail, the progress of construction of Section 1 of the Kramasan-Sungai Rengas section along 21.5 km has reached 92.07 percent and Section 2 of the Sungai Rengas-Pangkalan Balai section along 33.0 km has recorded a progress of 89.88 percent.
"Currently, the acceleration of development is focused on the Palembang-Betung section, especially Sections 1 and 2 which connect Kramasan-Sungai Rengas-Pangkalan Balai and are targeted to be completed in the third quarter of 2026," wrote the PU Ministry on its official Instagram account @kementerianpu, Monday, May 25.
Meanwhile, Section 3 of the Pangkalan Balai-Betung section along 14.69 km has recorded progress of 51.82 percent and is targeted to be completed in early 2027.
Minister PU Dody Hanggodo said that the construction of the toll road has a strategic role in supporting community mobility and the smooth flow of logistics in Sumatra.
"This connectivity support is in line with President Prabowo Subianto's direction that inter-regional connected infrastructure is able to open wider access and encourage economic growth," he said.
When all the sections are completed, the Kayuagung-Palembang-Betung Toll Road can shorten the travel time from Palembang to Betung from three hours to one hour, facilitate logistics distribution, increase travel efficiency and encourage economic growth in the region in South Sumatra.
