The Struggle of the Palestinian People and the Two-State Solution from the Struggle as well as Indonesia's Foreign Policy

JAKARTA - The struggle of the Palestinian people and the two-state solution are part of Indonesia's struggle and foreign policy, said Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono, Sunday.

This was conveyed by Foreign Minister Sugiono when he directly welcomed the return of nine Indonesian citizens (WNI) participants in the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 through the Global Peace Convoy Indonesia (GPCI), who were previously detained by the Israeli military, at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang.

"The struggle of the Palestinian people and the two-state solution are part of Indonesia's foreign policy and foreign policy," said Foreign Minister Sugiono accompanied by the Ambassador of Palestine to Indonesia Abdalfatah A.K Alsattari, as quoted on Monday (25/5).

Indonesia's position in defending Palestinian independence has also always been voiced by Foreign Minister Sugiono on various occasions and international forums.

Furthermore, Foreign Minister Sugiono appreciates the spirit of volunteers who have shown real support for the Palestinian people's struggle.

"I think our brothers, our colleagues are actually making efforts to support this struggle," he said.

As previously reported, Israeli naval commandos intercepted the Global Sumud Flotilla humanitarian convoy that left Turkey last week, with the aim of the Gaza Strip, Palestine, to break through the Israeli naval blockade to provide humanitarian aid.

The interception in Cypriot waters was followed by the arrest of 430 humanitarian activists in the fleet, who were then taken to Israel, as reported by Al Arabiya from AFP.

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir then uploaded a video showing him mocking the detained activists in a kneeling position with his head touching the ground, while his hands were handcuffed behind his back, on his X social media account, with the caption "welcome to Israel."

The actions of the right-wing minister received harsh criticism from various countries, including his close allies, the United States. At home, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar criticized Ben-Gvir's actions.

Last Thursday night, Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono announced the release of all Indonesian citizens. They left Israel for Istanbul, Turkey.

Indonesian Consul General in Istanbul Darianto Harsono said that the Indonesian citizens who were released had arrived in Istanbul. In a video on social media shared by the Instagram account @Menluri, he revealed that the Indonesian citizens "are in good health, although they have experienced physical violence, kicked, beaten or shocked.

The Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sugiono, also made a video call with the Indonesian citizens upon their arrival in Istanbul.

The Indonesian Ambassador to Turkey, Achmad Rizal Purnama, revealed that the Indonesian citizens would undergo health checks and visas before returning home.

"There will be a process of testimony, visa and health tests by the Turkish side and we will immediately return to the homeland if the process in Turkey is completed," he explained in a brief statement, as quoted on Friday (22/5).

The Indonesian government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns Israel's inhumane actions against Global Sumud Flotilla activists who were detained and subjected to arbitrary treatment, contrary to humanitarian principles.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono also ensured that the Government of the Republic of Indonesia would deal with the physical trauma experienced by Indonesian citizens upon their arrival in the country.

"Some of our colleagues who have experienced physical trauma will be handled further," explained Foreign Minister Sugiono.

Foreign Minister Sugiono condemned Israel for its actions against volunteers, which were violations of international law.

The Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the participants of the Global Sumud Flotilla were civilians who carried out humanitarian missions to help the Palestinian people.

"We also conveyed this condemnation at the UN Security Council on May 21st. This is an unacceptable action and must not be allowed," explained the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs.
