ASDP and Aceh Provincial Government Strengthen the West Region Logistics Route of the Republic of Indonesia

JAKARTA - PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) together with the Aceh Provincial Government (Pemprov) has strengthened the logistics route of the western region of Indonesia through the operation of the Jakarta-Malahayati crossing route to increase connectivity, distribution efficiency, and regional economic growth.

"ASDP continues to strengthen its role as the backbone of national inter-island connectivity," said Deputy President Director of ASDP Yossianis Marciano in a statement in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Monday, May 25.

This commitment was realized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Aceh Government regarding the operation of the Jakarta-Malahayati Aceh crossing as a new strategic route in the western region of Indonesia.

The signing of the cooperation was carried out by the Regional Secretary of Aceh Muhammad Nasir together with the Deputy President Director of ASDP Yossianis Marciano at the ASDP Headquarters, Jakarta, Saturday (23/5).

Yossianis emphasized that the development of the Jakarta-Malahayati route was not merely opening a new route, but was part of the transformation of ASDP services in strengthening a more efficient, modern, and integrated long distance ferry (LDF) ecosystem.

"This track is expected to be a catalyst for strengthening national logistics distribution as well as opening up opportunities for trade, tourism, and economic growth in Aceh and the wider western region of Indonesia," said Yossianis.

Through this strategic collaboration, ASDP and the Aceh Government will develop sustainable crossing services, starting from the operation and management of the ship fleet.

In addition, the determination of tariffs in accordance with regulations, the development of supporting port facilities, the promotion of the market of users of services, to the improvement of safety standards and the quality of transport services for crossing.

He said the development of long distance ferry services was also in line with the direction of ASDP's business transformation in presenting a more competitive logistics transportation system.

The distribution scheme based on long-distance crossings is considered capable of increasing the efficiency of distribution costs, reducing logistics travel time, and encouraging overall operational effectiveness.

Yossianis added that this step is a real contribution of ASDP in supporting the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia to reduce national logistics costs to 8 percent through an increasingly efficient and competitive distribution system.

Currently, ASDP continues to maintain the connectivity of the Aceh region through three main crossing routes, namely Ulee Lheue-Balohan, Ulee Lheue-Lamteung, and Ulee Lheue-Serapung with the services of the KMP Aceh Hebat 2 fleet, KMP BRR, and KMP Papuyu.

From January to April 2026, the ASDP Banda Aceh Branch recorded 128,034 passengers and 63,428 vehicles through the three lanes.

He emphasized that this achievement is proof of the strategic role of crossing transportation in supporting community mobility and the smooth distribution of logistics in Aceh.

"In the future, ASDP is committed to continue strengthening national connectivity through modern, integrated, and public service-oriented crossing transportation services as well as sustainable economic growth," said Yossianis.

Aceh Regional Secretary Muhammad Nasir conveyed full support for the continuation of this cooperation to open affordable sea transportation access through roro ferry services.

According to him, the synergy between the Aceh Government and ASDP is an important step to ensure that the regional development agenda is in line with the strengthening of national connectivity.

"This cooperation will open up various new development opportunities that can continue to be evaluated and expanded to support more comprehensive regional economic growth in the future," said Nasir.
