PNM and MES Encourage Islamic MSMEs Support through the Mba Maya 2026 Program
JAKARTA - The Sharia Economic Leaders Forum (SELF) 2026 held by the Central Management of the Islamic Economic Society (MES) on Sunday (24/5) is a strategic space to discuss the direction of strengthening the Indonesian Islamic economic ecosystem in the future.
The activities which were linked to the Inauguration and National Working Meeting of the PP MES period 2026-2031 carried the theme "Syariah Economy Beyond Finance: Orchestration of Regional Leadership and Halal Industry for Acceleration of the Indonesian Syariah Economy Ecosystem".
The Minister of Cooperatives of the Republic of Indonesia who is also the Chairman of the PP MES Harian, Ferry Juliantono, emphasized the importance of synergy between stakeholders so that Indonesia is able to become the world's halal producer and not just a consumer market.
"There is an urgency for the movement of sharia economy to enter deeper into the real sector and transform into concrete actions in the field," he explained.
According to him, the sharia economy should not stop at the financial sector, but must be present in the form of a complete ecosystem that touches the production sector, trade, halal industry, MSMEs, to cooperatives.
"The presence of pondok pesantren cooperatives and mosque cooperatives will be an important instrument in accelerating the economy of the people to produce more Muslim entrepreneurs in various regions," he said.
The SELF 2026 discussion session, which was guided by the Deputy Chairman of the PP MES Expert Council, Euis Amalia, featured three main speakers, namely the Executive Director of the National Committee for Islamic Economics and Finance (KNEKS) K.H. Sholahudin Al Aiyub who emphasized the need for the independence of halal raw materials to reduce imports.
From the perspective of regional government, Deputy Governor of East Java Emil E. Dardak explained the success of the "Pesantrenpreneur" initiative and the Halal Industrial Zone in East Java. Meanwhile, Founder and CEO of Toko Daging Nusantara Diana Dewi encouraged integrated halal certification and export strengthening through cooperative platforms.
This forum concluded that the acceleration of the sharia economy requires simplification of licensing regulations, ease of capital, and strong commitment from local governments.
