Nearly 70 Thousand Units Affected, Nissan Makes a Large Recall of This Model
JAKARTA - Nissan has recalled two of its models in the Chinese automotive market, namely N7 and N6. Based on a report from the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), there are almost 70 thousand more units affected.
Citing Carnewschina, Sunday, May 24, the local administration stated that the design problem of the gas pedal assembly could pose a safety hazard, in the two models above.
According to the official withdrawal submission of SAMR published, Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. will recall 49,465 units of Nissan N7 electric sedans and 18,800 units of Nissan N6 plug-in hybrid SUVs (PHEV) starting May 25, 2026.
The recall notice states that long-term use may cause wear within the gas pedal assembly, resulting in interference between the pedal components and affecting the operation of the pedal return.
In response to the above problem, Dongfeng Motor will replace the gas pedal assembly for free on affected vehicles, while the N6 vehicles that were recalled will also receive updated brake pedal assemblies.
SAMR stated that affected vehicles may experience wear and tear on the accelerator pedal assembly over time due to design-related issues. The submission states that interference between the pedal's rotating components and the protruding support structure can result in abnormal pedal return behavior, thus creating a potential safety hazard.
The regulator did not disclose any reports of accidents or injuries related to the issue. This recall involves two Nissan models developed for the Chinese market as part of Dongfeng Nissan's local electrification efforts.
