Chinese Coal Mine Blast Death Toll Reaches 90
JAKARTA - The number of deaths due to a coal mine explosion in Qingyuan District, Shanxi Province, northern China, has increased to 90 people.
China Central Television's earlier report said that provisional data showed 82 people were killed and nine other miners were missing in the incident.
The gas explosion in the coal mine occurred on Friday (22/5) evening, when 247 workers were underground.
Search and rescue operations are still underway, meanwhile, local authorities continue to investigate the cause of the explosion.
