Rice and Corn are Claimed to be Safe, Meat is Still a PR
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto claims that Indonesia is self-sufficient in rice and corn. However, the president admitted that meat is still a homework for the government.
This was conveyed by Prabowo when attending the shrimp harvest in Kebumen, Central Java, Saturday, May 23.
"We are now self-sufficient in food. We are self-sufficient in rice, corn," said Prabowo.
The President said that food was relatively safe. However, the animal protein sector was not yet fully strong.
"Our protein, eggs, chicken, meat is still not. We are working on this, maybe four years, five years later we will be self-sufficient in meat," he said.
Prabowo said that food determines whether or not the people's needs are safe, especially when the world is filled with conflicts.
"In the world there are many disputes, wars everywhere. We are grateful to the Almighty, we are still not involved. But we are vigilant," he said.
Therefore, the government is also building defense capabilities to protect national wealth.
"We must have strength. That's why we build our defense strength to protect our wealth," said Prabowo.
