Megawati and Sri Sultan HB X Meet at the Kraton Jogja Friday Night

JAKARTA - The 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia who is also the Chairman of the General Election for the Struggle Party (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri and her family met with Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, Friday night. They held a meeting and had dinner together.

Megawati and her entourage arrived at the Yogyakarta Kraton at around 19.15 WIB, Friday, May 22. Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, who is also the Governor of the Special Region, together with the queen, Gusti Kanjeng Ratu (GKR) Hemas, welcomed them directly.

When arriving at the location, Sri Sultan and GKR Hemas greeted Megawati and the entourage, then Sri Sultan introduced the second daughter of Gusti Kanjeng Ratu (GKR) Condrokirono and the fifth or youngest daughter of Gusti Kanjeng Ratu (GKR) Bendara and the third wife of Sri Sultan, Kanjeng Pangeran Haryo (KPH) Purbodiningrat.

Megawati was accompanied by her son M. Prananda Prabowo and wife Nancy Prananda, her granddaughter Pinka Hapsari, two nephews Puti Soekarno and Romy Soekarno as well as PDIP politician Bintang Puspayoga.

At the Pendopo, Megawati and her entourage were served with a drink of wedang semlo made from bananas, ginger, cinnamon, brown sugar, pandan leaves and lemongrass. The drink is the favorite drink of Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X.

There was also the sound of gamelan music playing around the pendopo. Although the occasional laughter was heard, let alone listening to the shouts of GKR Bendara.

After being served with wedang semlo, Sri Sultan invited Megawati and the entourage to dinner at the Pendopo Kraton Kilen.

Sri Sultan and GKR Hemas sat at the table with Megawati, M. Prananda Prabowo and his wife Nancy Prananda, and GKR Condrokirono.

The dinner party of Sri Sultan with Megawati's family was warm. In fact, the casual talk while having dinner lasted for 3.5 hours.
